Webinar: 30 minute interview with Michael Geyer | On how Germany plans to phase out coal without losing all the coal jobs, and how other countries could do the same
8th May at 16:00 CEST (Check your local time here)
Germany has committed to completely decarbonize their national energy system. Going 100% renewables, however, comes with electricity dispatchability challenges. One of the possible solutions would be to replace the coal in coal power plants with renewable energy as the ‘fuel’ for the turbines, and using thermal storage to offset the intermittency of renewables and keep the power as baseload. That will save jobs in the power plants and save emissions.
In this session Michael Geyer responds to questions about the technical and financial viability of such plan.
