Webinar: Green Energy for Data Centers
Thursday, 27 February at 17:00 CET / 11:00 EST (Check your local time)
Data centers have become the engine of transformation across every sector of our economy. But this engine requires energy. Recent studies estimate datacenters demand between 1 to 2 percent of global energy supply.
At Microsoft, we are committed to sustainable operations in all parts of our business and beyond, for local and global good. In January 2020, we announced our goal to be carbon negative by 2030 and to remove all the company’s direct emissions since 1975 by 2050. As part of this goal, Microsoft will shift to 100 percent supply of renewable energy, meaning that we will have power purchase agreements for green energy contracted for 100 percent of carbon-emitting electricity consumed by datacenters, buildings, and campuses.
This is partly why Microsoft Cloud offers customers services that are 93 percent more energy efficient and up to 98% more carbon efficient than traditional enterprise datacenters. In this webinar, learn more about Microsoft’s cloud business and some of the core objectives and achievements of our corporate renewable programs to date.
